Our Role | Congregation-Based Organizing | Rural Grassroots Organizing | Workforce Constituency Development

RCI also works to foster leadership development and community organizing efforts in rural and urban neighborhoods throughout the San Joaquin Valley by finding and equipping leaders who have a passion to make a positive difference in their communities. RCI has achieved the following:

  • Helped found the Tulare County Immigrant Support Task Force, which worked on immigrant leadership, health and safety issues in Tulare County.
  • Partnered with the Tulare County Agricultural Worker Health Coalition to develop a comprehensive health initiative, which had an Agricultural Worker Leadership and Institutional Collaboration component.
  • Helped organize a community leadership association in Ivanhoe, a small community in Tulare County, which organized to confront gang activity and other community development issues;
  • Helped launch a grassroots association in Firebaugh that is building its community leadership base and working to address local health concerns;
  • Conducted a Spanish-language community organizing training in Cutler-Orosi with over 70 rural leaders in attendance.
